Katie Holmes & Jamie Foxx Split After Quiet 6-Year Romance

Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes have called it quits after a quiet six years together.

"Jamie and Katie split," a music entertainment source told PEOPLE. Reports of the couple's breakup made headlines on Monday (August 19), however, the publication indicates the pair pulled the plug on their relationship back in May, around the same time the then-lovebirds made their red carpet debut at this year's Met Gala.

Page Six also seems to validate this timeline, as an eyewitness claimed to have overheard the Dawson's Creek alum telling a friend she and Foxx "haven't been together for months" while dining at La Esquina this month. Even so, the "Blame It" singer already appears to have moved on from his ex.

Just last week, the 51-year-old was seen walking hand-in-hand with singer Sela Vave after spending last Friday night (August 16) at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in Los Angeles. A source described the young singer, who is apparently one of Foxx's new recording artists, as "just a girl he's helping out."

While neither Holmes nor Foxx have publicly confirmed or denied the status of their alleged relationship to begin with, it's been long-rumored the twosome has been romantically linked since 2013.

As for what caused the split, it's possible timing conflicts could be to blame. As PEOPLE previously reported in April, Foxx and Holmes struggled to make time for each other amid their busy schedules. “When they can spend time together, they do. When they’re busy and they can’t, they don’t," an insider said at the time. "They are two adults who enjoy each other’s company and have for a long time."
